A Telegram bot is the cheapest pager there is: it reaches your phone, a private group or a public channel with thousands of subscribers, and it costs nothing. The Telegram integration lets any MadMax workflow speak through your bot, with a text message, a photo with a caption or a document like a PDF report, to any chat or channel the bot belongs to. Messages are outbound only today; a workflow can still take Telegram updates in through a webhook step and reply through these operations, and a bot that posts publicly can still have an editor, because a human approval is one step away from any message. Describe what you want in plain English and MadMax binds your bot token and previews the exact message during the build, so nothing reaches a channel until you activate.
What teams build
- A webhook from your monitoring tool runs an AI summarize step that condenses the stack trace and last log lines into three sentences, an if step checks severity, and
send_messagereaches the on-call group with HTML formatting and a link to the run. - A 7 am schedule fetches yesterday's metrics with a web request, an agent writes the brief, and
send_photoposts the chart by URL with the headline number as its caption. - An email trigger receives a marketing draft, an agent tightens it to Telegram length, and an approval emails the editor one-click Approve and Reject; on approve, the message goes to the public
@channel, and on reject the draft goes back with the agent's notes.
How it connects
Message @BotFather in Telegram, send /newbot, and paste the bot token it replies with (123456:ABC…). The bot must be a member (or admin) of any group or channel it posts to; for a private chat, message the bot once and read the chat id from the Bot API's getUpdates. Messages run to 4,096 characters with optional HTML, Markdown or MarkdownV2 formatting, and photos and documents are sent by URL or by a Telegram file_id. The token is stored encrypted and never shown again, and each Telegram step picks its connection in the Inspector; see managing connections.
